The American Heart Association / American Stroke Association is hosting the 8th Annual Idaho Youth Lobby Day on Thursday, February 1st, 2018. This is an opportunity for students to learn more about the Idaho State Legislature, meet with their representatives, engage in issue advocacy, and see firsthand how our political system operates.
We will focus on Safe Routes to School, which creates a funding mechanism for improvements that allow children to walk and bike to school safely. We will also forward legislation to move the minimum legal sales age of tobacco from 18 to 21. Both of these efforts will help improve the health of our children and help them learn healthier habits.
This is a great opportunity for high school students to get experience learning how the government operates, and to be advocates for issues that impact them, and is a fun event for everyone! If you would like to join us as a volunteer, or work with students who might be interested, please contact Erin Bennett at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 208.501.7788.
